We would like to be considered again for the Fifth Cent tax share which will be used to supplement local match funds for our grants to ensure the continuance and stability of the center to cover operations, maintenance expenses, and replacement of aging equipment when necessary.
If a match is not in place, then the programs that our seniors need will have to be cut back drastically, or eliminated.
Repairs on old equipment never last as long as we thing they should and can coast more in repairs that replacement.
Unfortunately, the cost of food, food preparation supplies, utilities, costs of sanitation measures, and gasoline have increased and is still climbing. Generally, the budgeted grant funds have never covered the costs completely, and local matches have to be used to make up the difference.
Due to fewer local contributions, the Fifth Cent tax share and fund raisers have helped make up the differences without needing to cut, or eliminate programs, but has allowed us to expand to additional programs.
Having the Fifth Cent tax share has allowed us to replace our old baking oven with a new double oven, which allows us to prepare more meals with greater efficiency.
Having the Fifth Cent tax share has allowed us to be able to take stimulating day trips to local historical sites, and concerts, for our seniors and others.
Future needs:
- Continuing the Fifth Cent Tax benefit will support ongoing/future grant applications and programs.
- If the Fifth Cent Tax benefit continues for TSSC we can use it as local match to replace older vehicles.
- If the Fifth Cent Tax benefit continues for TSSC we can use it as local match to expand our two-bay garage into a larger facility to house our newer vehicles.
